Inspired by the booming tourism industry in the Spanish Riviera during the early 80s, Mimpi's late founder Wirja Santoso turned to hotel magnate following his homeland-return to Bali in 1975 after many years of living in Germany as a pharmacologist. The idea was to introduce a portable holiday concept in far-flung corners of Bali to sample the island's best landscape, above and below water, whilst exploring underwater secrets, culture and enjoying resort luxury. Following a success with his first resort in the famous diving village of Tulamben in the east, another resort was built in the west neighboring the Bali Barat National Park and the famous diving island of Menjangan. A firm commitment is dedicated in both resorts to introduce and maintain an eco-friendly operation as set by its architect designer the Ground Kent Architect of Australia.
