“Clean-up Menjangan Island”is a routine activity carried out by all resorts in the surroundings of Menjangan Island. The aim is to help preserve the environment by cleaning the beaches of Menjangan Island. One of our principles as a resort is “harmony between nature, human and business”, hence we are committed to decrease the impact of our waste that pollutes our natural environment. Research has shown that micro-plastics harm the marine ecosystem; they accumulate in the bodies of marine animals and suffocate coral reefs.
Last week, a group of ten Mimpi Resort Menjangan staffs departed early morning from our jetty to collect plastic waste along Menjangan Island’s beaches. recycle them at a new recycling center in Pejarakan built by Biosphere Foundation and the local government. Each person collected at least ten kilograms of organic and inorganic trash that were brought to Pejarakan’s new recycling center. The center was built in collaboration between Biosphere Foundation, the local government and private donors.
