SNORKELING
Menjangan Island offers some of Bali’s best snorkelling sites. The island’s “Pos 1” site on the west tip and “Pos 2” site on the east tip are especially great for family and children as there are white sandy beaches, which offer easy entrance to the island and a nice lunch break spot.
The Coral Garden on the north side of the island is home to one of Bali’s healthiest and most colourful coral reefs, spreading shallow at an average depth of 2 to 4 metres beneath the surface.
KAYAKING
We offer one-hour or two-hours kayaking sessions along the resort’s secluded bay. It is recommended to go in the early morning or late afternoon as it will increase the chances of seeing wildlife along the mangrove forest, including macaque, little blue king fisher and a variety of aquatic birds.
A late afternoon kayaking trip will reward you with an extraordinarily beautiful sunset on a backdrop of majestic mountains.
GUIDED FISHING

BALI BARAT NATIONAL PARK
The wildest destination in Bali, this conservation area covers 19,003 hectares of mangroves, savannah, rainforest, monsoon forest and the coral reefs ringing Menjangan Island.
The park is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna, from the scaly anteater or Sunda Pangolin (Manis javanica), the black giant squirrel (Ratufa bicolour), the Malayan Porcupine (Hystrix brachyura), the marbled cat (Felis marmorata), the Javan rusa or ‘menjangan’ (Cervus timorensis), the banteng or wild cattle (Bos javanicus), the mouse deer or kancil (Trangulus javanicus ), the water monitor (Varanus salvator) and the Olive ridley sea turtle (Lepidochelys olivaceae).
TEMPLES
A few important temples in Bali are located just a few minutes drive from the resort. These temples include Pura Pulaki, Pura Melanting and Pura Pabean on the mainland, as well as Pura Kelenting Sari at the hilltop of Menjangan Island. These temples were built in the 16th century as part of the holy trip of the great Hindu missionary, Danghyang Nirartha, who came from the great kingdom of Majapahit in Java. His mission was to bring Hinduism to the people of Bali.
LOCAL MARKETS
The village of Pejarakan where the resort is administratively located boasts a mixed settlement of Balinese Hindu and Islamic Madurese community. The two main crops people grow here are corn during the wet season, November to May, and grape during the dry season, June to October. As a coastal village, fishing is an important source of livelihood at certain seasons. The village’s traditional market is the busiest in the morning, from between 05:00am to about 09:00am.
TRADITIONAL SALT PANNING
Just 5 minutes from the resort, a small Madurese community has practiced traditional salt making for generations. Seawater is pumped into hectares of blocked lands, heated under the sun for 10 days then dried to produce pure traditional Balinese sea salt. Production season is during the dry season, June to October, when the sun’s heat is reliably strong every day.
PEARL FARMING
Large-scale pearl farming has long been practiced in many coastal areas of North Bali, including several villages near the resort. Pearls of high quality are intensively farmed to supply market demand from Japan, Europe and America. Several of these farms organize site-tours for visitors interested in learning more about pearl cultivation. The tour covers all stages of farming from hatchery to harvesting. It also offers an opportunity to purchase pearls on-site, thus giving the best value for quality.
DOLPHIN WATCHING AT LOVINA BEACH
The calm waters at Lovina are an attractive place for dolphins. They have developed a relationship with local fisherman for many years, helping each other catch fish. Guests must be at Lovina beach by 5:30 before sunrise to depart for the waters.
BANJAR HOT SPRING
About one hour drive away from the resort, you will find this centuries old hot spring that is a favourite amongst locals. The complex is surrounded by lush jungle and built with traditional Balinese architecture. It possessea a unique tiered structure with dragon spouts. The water is therapeutic due to its sulphuric content, and for centuries people have come to revitalize their health.
