Experiences & Tours
Amed Beach
The famous Amed Beach attracts divers and travellers alike, offering beautiful underwater biodiversity and cultural sights. You’ll experience Balinese village life as you see locals go about their day. Try and explore Balinese cuisine at the various small and traditional warungs (food stalls). Amed Beach is a terrific place to relax, doze off in the sun, or discover more treasures in its various dive spots.
Lempuyang Luhur Temple
This Balinese Hindu temple predates most other temples in the island of the gods. Also, it lies 1175m above sea level, so make sure you are fit and ready for this! The top is reached with a climb of 1700 steps. The difficulty of the climb adds to the spiritual journey for most local Balinese, and you are encouraged not to complain during the climb to show your strength. After 2 hour climb you will reach the top, where the beautiful temple resides. It will not be filled with too many people, and is definitely an off beaten path of Bali that most tourists do not venture on.
Mount Batur
Mount Batur is one of two active volcanoes in Bali. Sitting at 1717m above sea level, you can catch a beautiful view of the Bali Sea and sunrise. The 700m elevation gain does not pose extreme difficulties for most climbers, and can be done in about 1.5 hours. It is best to climb during dry season (April-September) to avoid rain. Trek generally starts at 4am, so you can reach the summit and catch the beautiful Balinese sunrise. When you take in the breathtaking view, you will understand why this is a crowd favorite amongst tourists. Oh, and on the way down you can come across temples and playful monkeys too!
Mount Agung
Being the highest mountain and active volcano in Bali at 3031m, Mount Agung should not be taken lightly. Most say it is a difficult climb, but it is absolutely worth it. If you are lucky enough, when you get to the peak you may even see Mount Rinjani, the highest peak that neighbours in Lombok. You will have to get up even earlier for this trek, possibly before midnight so that you may have ample time to reach the summit before sunrise. Be sure to use a guide when you head up!
Tirta Gangga
Taman Tirta Gangga is a former royal palace that was built in 1946. Today this beautiful property is under the care of the royal Karangasem Family. Lying on the Southeastern slope of Mount Agung, this water palace contains 1.2 hectares of pools, gardens and lawns. On the water, you will meet polygonal stepping stones that will guide you on a beautiful journey and be greeted by giant red and gold carp. This is a must see tourist attraction, and is the perfect place to get that amazing instagram shot too!
Tenganan Village
Tenganan Village is inhabited by one of the original Bali Aga communities that go back for centuries. They have preserved their way of life and now attracts many tourists to experience a little piece of Balinese history. You will find beautiful traditional arts and crafts and you are able to purchase them as souvenirs. Bargaining with the villagers is part of the fun. In June and July you can see the amazing “Perang Pandan” sword dance ritual, where the Balinese are possessed by spirits.
Taman Ujung
Taman Ujung is another beautiful water palace built by the royal Karangasem Family. It is the sister of the Tirta Gangga water palace. Covering 10 hectares of land, the palace contains complex structures influenced by Balinese and European architecture. Take your time to explore royal baths, meditation quarters, and floating pavilions. Not only this, but you can enjoy a beautiful mountainous backdrop. This combined with the gorgeous architecture is great for photography lovers and pre wedding photo shoots!
Virgin Beach
A calm, undisturbed sandy beach near Bugbug village. Perfect for beach lovers looking to unwind and relax. Cute fisherman boats line the beach to give you a feeling of the village life, and you can enjoy a snack or drink at the little warungs too. Find a moment and connect with mother nature. You will surely be recharged and refreshed at this beautiful natural setting.
Candidasa
Candidasa is a cute seaside town that is about a 1 hour drive from Mimpi Resort Tulamben. It is filled with good shops, bars, and restaurants. We especially recommend Loaf Candidasa Cafe! Their coffee is to die for. You may also find a beautiful quiet beach that won’t see too many crowds. Candidasa is also close to Taman Ujung and Tirta Gangga royal water palaces, as well as Tenangan Village. It is a wonderful place to stop by if you are exploring the amazing regency of Karangasem.
